A Letter to Hudson on his Birthday

Today, my sweet boy, you are two.  It’s so cliche to say, but I swear you were a snuggly newborn just yesterday.  However, those days are long gone.  You are a vivacious, charismatic, and hilarious little human being.
I take such joy in watching you learn and explore your world.  And every new word or sentence you speak is a jewel to me.  Just a couple days ago you said “love you” and I’m pretty sure my heart melted all over the floor.
You find such beauty in everything!  Dandelions, those pesky weeds, are “pwetty” to you, and seeing a “CHOO CHOO” will make your entire day.
You love and find comfort in me, but oh the sunshine that lights your face when you see your dad.  It’s enough to make me cry.  When he goes to work, you call out “dada where are you?” and when he comes homes “HI DADA” and a huge grin are always the first to greet him.
You’re obviously obsessed with anything train related, as well as your grandparents and darling cousins.  Spending a day with them is heaven in your book.
That’s not to say that you don’t throw fits, because boy oh boy do you give tantrums a new meaning!  They’re not often, but when they happen, it’s a big deal.  Big enough that I may need a glass or two of wine that night.  Or retail therapy.  Sometimes both.
But it’s small potatoes my son.  Because you are truly the most beautiful blessing your father and I could have ever asked for.  You light up our lives.  You bring so much happiness and laughter to our every day.  I am so thankful for you, and I love you so much I swear I could burst.
Happy Birthday my heart.
