Whew 2017 just flew by didn’t it? I honestly can’t believe were already two weeks into 2018 and my baby is about to be 2. I remember my parents telling me “Just wait until you have kids, time flies.” They were right. I do have to say, 2017 was an overall amazing year. I am so thankful for all we got to experience, but most importantly I am so thankful for my family.
2017 Recap and 2018 New Year Resolutions
Most of 2017 Jason was finishing the stadium, which meant I was single parenting 6 days a week. It was hard, but it taught me A LOT about myself. I also got tons of time with the kids, which I know I’ll appreciate as they get older and need me less and less. I’m already noticing it now. Hudson doesn’t even want me to hold him until he falls asleep any more! Henley’s getting there as well. I’M NOT READY! But I digress. 2017- you taught me a lot about myself, gave me so much time with my children, and my business grew to a level I hadn’t expected. Thank you.
2018 is going to be the year for refocusing ourselves as a family. My husband is home a lot more now, and we both want to make up for lost times. So we’re planning family vacays and are really focusing on “us” time when we’re all home. We’ve also decided to put our phones away on date nights, family nights etc.
I had this amazing Silent Night at the Mandarin Oriental a couple weeks ago, and it helped me realize how much time away from my phone is needed! At the Mandarin, they take your phone and put it in this black pouch and keep it up at the front desk. You then go enjoy your services (I had the 50 minute media break massage), take a meditation class, or just enjoy the amazing pool and sauna. After a couple hours there, I felt like a new woman! The massage was one of the best I’ve ever enjoyed, and the meditation helped me to center and calm myself. I left feeling so relaxed, and slept the best I have in years. I actually got two of my dear friends gift certificates to the spa there so they could enjoy it as well.
Back to my 2018 New Year Resolutions:
- Less time on my phone.
- More time as a family.
That’s it! I know it’s not a long list. But it’s definitely the most important new year resolutions I have for this year.
