You know I had to do another protein donut recipe 🙂 If you enjoyed the blueberry donuts, you’ll love these Gingerbread Protein Donuts! These gingerbread protein donuts are full of protein and deliciousness. They’re the perfect treat for Christmas morning, or to help you get on track with your New Year’s resolutions! The recipe is below- let me know what you think!
And don;t forget to use my code HAPPILYHUGHES for 25% off your AboutTime purchase!
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 scoops Chocolate AboutTime protein powder
- 1/4 cup flaxseed
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp ginger
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- Himalayan sea salt to taste
- 1 cup applesauce- Use the carrot applesauce from Trader Joes
- 3 egg whites
- 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- *Powdered sugar to decorate
- Preheat oven to 350 and grease donut pan with coconut oil
- Pour wet ingredients into mixing bowl and whip until frothy: egg whites, maple syrup, molasses, and vanilla extract.
- Next, add the dry ingredients slowly while still stirring: whole wheat flour, protein powder, flaxseed, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and a pinch of sea salt.
- Mix until well combined, then pour the mixture into the donut pan. I found scooping the mixture out with a 1/4 cup and pouring it into each donut holder with a spatula works best with this sticky dough.
- Fill each donut 2/3 of the way.
- Place in oven and cook for 15-20 or until edges are slightly brown.
- Dust each with powdered sugar.
- Enjoy with your cup of coffee!
