Ahhh Jamaica was the perfect way to end the summer! Hudson keeps asking when we’re going back. I’d move us there if I could! Here is everything you need to know about our family trip to Jamaica.
Family Trip to Jamaica – Travel Guide
Where to stay:
The Royalton White Sands is a luxury all-inclusive and family-friendly resort in the heart of Montego Bay. This particular resort received a Four Diamond Award and has been a staple in Jamaica for several years. Our taxi driver from the airport was singing it’s praises and said it was his favorite resort to partner with. After a full week there I can understand why!
Royalton White Sands is focused on five-star family fun. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading to the Diamond Club, in which you get a butler for your stay, as well as nicer accommodations. Our butlers did everything for us- booked our dinner reservations, planned our excursions, set up our rooms every night etc. The very best was after a long day at the dolphin cove, we came back to our room and there was dinner and lots of water waiting our return. It made this vacation with kids an actual vacation!
The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious and overlook the pool or the ocean, each room is equipped with wifi, a fully stocked fridge, a speaker to hook up your iphone to, and a little balcony to sit at in the evenings to relax after a fun-filled day.
What to do:
At the resort, there is PLENTY for the whole family. For the kids there is a kids club full of toys, activities and games. There’s also a huge water park, a lazy river, two pools, and a pristine beach for them to play at. Every couple of hours there are planned activities for the kids to enjoy: dance parties, foam parties at the water park, face paintings, pirates, and more.
For the adults: nightly concerts and dance parties are planned, as well as workouts and dances throughout the day. You can even check the kids into the kids club, where there are babysitters, and go to dinner by yourselves!! It’s WONDERFUL!
Off the resort I cannot recommend enough the blue lagoon. You swim with tiny algae that light up every time you touch the water. It is so magical and beautiful!! The kids didn’t want to get in, but the captain watched them and gave them buckets of water to play in while I got to swim around in the magic. We also loved the dolphin cove! Both kids got to swim with and play with dolphins. I know my animal activists get up in arms about this, but I promise these dolphins are well loved and cared for. If you ever go visit, you’ll see what I mean.
What to eat:
All of the fresh fruit, the endless breakfast buffet, chicken patties, and the jerk chicken. For dinner I cannot recommend the Tex-Mex or Hibachi restaurants enough. We had a great experience with the food!
With the heat wave we’ve been having I would love to be there right now–swimming in the pool-relaxing on the beach. Alas it is not to be for me. I am really happy that you and the kids had a marvelous time there. If I ever get the chance I will surely stay at that hotel!
Jamaica sounds like an amazing family vacation! My husband and I stopped there on a cruise once, but only had a few hours. For our honeymoon, we did an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic, and want to do something similar soon with our boys. I hadn’t thought about Jamaica as a good place with a family, but now I’m rethinking!
We were in Jamaica in April. It is such a beautiful island. My kids cannot wait to go back. They both love the beach

Hi my family will be traveling in July 2019, is the water as blue as your pictures? Also, how was the bedding and we have the family room with the bunks! I am hoping it is nice.
Is the resort well maintain? I been reading mix reviews in regards to AC and water.
Thanks in advance!!
Hi! I stumbled upon your article researching Royalton white sands. We’re looking to go there without children two girls, who will be eight and six. It looks like yours are younger, but can you give me some examples of things that you saw older kids doing. We just want to make sure that there’s plenty for them to do all day – besides swimming in the pool. Thanks in advance!
